HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 17, 2013 – Ensuring that children in the community receive a gift for Christmas is important to High Point University students. This year, they’ve donated 600 stockings filled with toys and necessities to the Salvation Army’s Stuff a Stocking campaign to do just that.
It marks the third year in a row that students have participated and nearly doubled the amount of stockings donated each year. In 2011, they donated 150 stockings to the campaign. In 2012, they donated 375.
Groups like the Student Government Association, who filled a total of 300 stockings, as well as the women’s lacrosse and volleyball teams, led the efforts on campus.
“I am proud of our student body answering the call to provide gifts to children on Christmas who might not otherwise receive one,” says Tyler Steelman, senior and SGA president. “Stuff a Stocking is a campaign we are passionate about and one that gives us great joy to be part of.”
