Class of 2015 Outcomes: Megan Robinson Recruited by Charlotte Hornets

With commencement just around the corner, High Point University seniors are preparing to commence prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary senior from the Class of 2015:

Name: Megan Robinson

Hometown: Killingly, Connecticut

Major: Robinson will graduate with a B.A. in Stratetgic Communication on May 9.

Post-graduation plans: Robinson accepted a position as an inside sales consultant with the Charlotte Hornets in Charlotte, North Carolina. In her position, Robinson will sell a full menu of tickets for the Charlotte Hornets, including luxury suites, premium inventory, season tickets, mini plans and groups.

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU’s Sports Management Association has given me the opportunity to attend sports conferences, network with professionals in the sports industry and elevate myself over the huge pool of recent grads striving to begin their career in professional sports. High Point’s professional atmosphere along with the professors and advisors who put in countless hours to help enhance resumes and professionals skills have helped guide me and prepare me to take the next steps into my career.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Professor Larry Quinn has become my most impactful mentor thus far at HPU. His enthusiasm for sales and his ability to transfer his skills over to us as students has prepared me immensely for a career in sales. Professor Quinn works closely with us as students, teaching us how to sell ourselves to professionals, especially in interviews. The lessons he has taught me, the confidence he has instilled in me and the guidance he has provided me should never go unnoticed and I thank him for all he has done.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was being able to attend the NFL Combine Career Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana back in February with a few members of the Sports Management Association club. Here, we were able to network with numerous professionals in the industry and really get a glimpse into what it is like to work in professional sports. While at the conference, it was really the first time I was able to see first hand how much I’ve grown as a student and bring my networking abilities and professional skills to the table. I thank Dr. Lukow for diligently helping us with SMA. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for her dedication to our group!”

Advice for underclassmen: “Get involved with on-campus organizations and join something whether it is a club, sorority or fraternity that enables you to grow as a person. Also, find what you are passionate about. This may take a year or two, but when you do, gain any and every type of experience you can in that field to set yourself apart from others; the lessons and skills you learn through internships and hands-on work are immeasurable.”
