With another successful commencement behind us, recent High Point University graduates are preparing to commence prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary senior from the Class of 2016:
Name: Samantha Evans
Hometown: Budd Lake, New Jersey
Major: Evans graduated with a B.S.B.A. in Accounting on May 7.
Post-graduation plans: Evans accepted a position as a Manager in Training at Kohl’s department store in New Jersey. In her position, Evans will learn the day-to-day operations of running the department store and how to manage a winning team.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU has had a major impact on me by allowing me to grow and learn in such a extraordinary environment. I have had the privilege of having so many great professors and have enrolled in classes that have challenged me and pushed me to be a better student. The Career & Professional Development office helped me find my strengths as an individual by offering tests such as the Myers Briggs and the Gallup strength finders test. They have also helped me polish up my resume.“
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor is George Noxon. He is a great professor and truly cares about the success of his students. He was always available to help me with any questions I had in his class as well as giving me advice for my post graduation plans.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU would have to be working as VITA volunteer. As a VITA volunteer, we prepared income tax returns for low income families. This experience was an eye opening and rewarding experience.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Take advantage of all the resources that HPU has to offer, step out of your comfort zone and push yourself. Anything is possible if you set your mind to it.“
