HPU Hosts 8,000 Visitors at the Fall Family Weekend

HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 3, 2022 – High Point University’s campus and the local community was filled with HPU families over the weekend for the Fall Family Weekend. The event gives both HPU students and their families time to experience everything the university and city have to offer.

During the weekend, HPU families had fun at the Qubein Arena on Sept. 24 for the main event, featuring award-winning country singer Chris Lane and an ABBA Tribute Band. HPU hosts several concerts and events in the Qubein Arena throughout the year.

HPU families also enjoyed the PantherPalooza Carnival where they had fun on amusement rides, ate fair food and played carnival games. Families also toured the newly opened Nido and Mariana Qubein Children’s Museum, participated in a 5K family fun run, attended concerts, athletic events and more.

“Family Weekend has always been one of my favorite weekends at High Point University,” said Lizzy Eisenhardt, president of HPU’s Student Government Association and a senior from Pennsylvania. “It’s so special to see everyone coming together and meeting each other’s parents and families from all around the world. Being my last Fall Family Weekend, it is bittersweet, but this has been a weekend I won’t forget.”

Over the weekend, HPU welcomed more than 8,000 visitors, bringing in millions of dollars to local restaurants, hotels and shops. The PepperMill Cafe is just one of the many businesses who experience this economic boost during the weekend.

“Besides being a beautiful sight to look at as you drive by and visit the campus, HPU has brought people from all points of the world to our little neck of the woods,” said Esther Asprogiannis, vice president of the PepperMill Cafe. “The diverse complexity of individuals attending the university and their families have added to our hometown fellowship. We are pleased to have HPU seeds grow in our community.”

HPU also hosts a family weekend during the spring semester. You can find more information by clicking this link.
