Major: Business administration and hospitality management with a minor in marketing
Post-graduation plans: Baier joins Marriott International as a brands operations manager and a member of the Marriott Manager Development Program in Raleigh, North Carolina. She works alongside managers to oversee hotel departments and meet projected goals.
How HPU helped you get there:
“The mentors on HPU’s campus helped me get to where I am now. HPU prepared me for the future and helped me achieve my goals by allowing me to be involved in so many different campus organizations. I was also encouraged to start a new club for HPU’s hospitality program. The staff in the Office of Career and Professional Development helped me edit my resume and search for internships. It was always easy to visit during drop-in hours or make an appointment with a career advisor.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU:
“Dr. Marisa Ritter, assistant professor of hospitality management, was my most impactful mentor at HPU because she made sure I was supported and had the resources to reach my goals. Dr. Ritter was encouraging and supportive, and she always believed in me.”
Most impactful moment at HPU:
“My most impactful moment at HPU was being an Assistant Resident Director and mentoring so many freshmen students. I was so excited to watch my residents grow and ask for advice or for more information about resources and organizations on campus.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?
“HPU’s inspiring environment has contributed to my success because simply walking by the fountains on campus makes you feel energized and ready to take on the day. There are so many incredible mentors at HPU, and everyone wants to see you succeed.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?
“HPU helped me develop professional and leadership skills and turned me into a critical thinker. HPU’s courses taught me these life skills and prepared me for long-term success.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?
“HPU’s campus helped me develop valuable leadership skills. Being a resident assistant and participating in different organizations at HPU allowed me to learn important traits that I will take with me after graduation.”

“Put yourself out there! Take advantage of the resources HPU offers, such as career and internship fairs, clubs, and organizations. There is something at HPU for everyone.”
