How HPU helped you get there:

“HPU helped me get to where I am by connecting me with other students and encouraging me to join clubs that focus on emergency medicine. The Office of Career and Professional Development helped me perfect my resume and cover letter, so I felt prepared to apply for jobs.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU:

“My most impactful mentors at HPU were Dr. Nicole Hughes, secondary biology program coordinator and associate professor of biology, and Dr. Jason Lattier, director of Caine Conservatory. I completed plant research with Dr. Hughes and worked in the conservatory with Dr. Lattier. They both helped me so much and encouraged me to do what makes me happy.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“My most impactful moment at HPU was when I made history with the volleyball team. We went to the second round of the NCAA tournament my sophomore year.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?

“HPU’s inspiring environment has contributed to my success by providing me with plenty of opportunities to grow and learn in my chosen field. For example, taking an advanced anatomy cadaver lab was an incredible experience and is not commonly offered to undergraduate students at other universities.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?

“Two major life skills I learned from being a student at HPU are communication and teamwork. Through classes and presenting research, I really became confident in myself. I also constantly worked in a team environment which prepared me for my current job.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?

“Personal initiative is something that I will take with me after graduation. I work hard in everything I do to become the best physician assistant I can possibly be. I strive to go above and beyond.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“If you are unsure about the path you want to take, you can explore other options. Research different classes, clubs and internships that interest you.”
