How HPU helped you get there:
“After just one year, HPU has taught me so much. The Stout School of Education is preparing me for my future career by offering courses in different areas of education. I’m learning about various teaching methods, which is very important to my development as an educator. I’m very excited for my upcoming classes and to continue to work with HPU faculty.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU:
“Leigh Barnwell, senior learning excellence specialist, is my most impactful mentor at HPU. During Summer Advantage, I was enrolled in her Foundations for Academic Success course, which helped me get ahead and earn college credits before my freshman year even began. Barnwell set me up for a successful college experience.”
What has your internship experience been like, and how is it preparing you for your future?:
“My internship experience has been very eye-opening. I’ve seen first-hand the literacy challenges that our society faces. Reading skills are vital to all aspects of education and necessary to be successful in life. This internship has allowed me to gain exposure to the Orton-Gillingham reading technique, which is an extremely successful approach to teaching children how to read.”
