“HPU helped me get to where I am now in many ways. HPU always stressed the importance of networking, and this skill is what helped me connect with my former boss and teacher. From there, I launched my career in the data and business fields. The business acumen skills that HPU taught me allowed me to effectively communicate data insights. I also used the Office of Career and Professional Development to help perfect my resume and to reaffirm my belief that I was ready to enter the workforce.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU:
“Scott Davis, associate professor of accounting, was my most impactful mentor at HPU. Professor Davis’ class and teaching style was pivotal in helping me improve my work ethic.”
Most impactful moment at HPU:
“At Commencement, my mom told me, ‘Son, we are all so proud of you.’ That was not only my most impactful moment at HPU, but it was also the most impactful moment of my life. My mother was told that she would not live to see me graduate college. She has had cancer four times. I worked hard to fulfill my mother’s dream of seeing me graduate and succeed.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?
“HPU’s focus on mentorship benefitted me greatly. The one-on-one conversations I had with professors helped prepare for me for my life and career after college.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?
“HPU taught me that completing your work on time and putting your best effort into everything that you do is the recipe for success.”
Advice for underclassmen:
“You are at HPU because you are a gifted student. If you struggle to find the right job or internship for you, keep trying. Use the resources that HPU offers to help you discover what you are meant to do.”
