Post-graduation plans: Charapp is a staff assistant in the office of North Carolina Senator Ted Budd, where he serves as the main point of contact between constituents and Senator Budd. He also coordinates meetings and helps with policy research.
How HPU helped you get there:
“HPU prepared me for my future in so many ways. Being surrounded by wonderful faculty and mentors helped push me to be my best self. Utilizing HPU’s resources allowed me to develop personally and professionally. I felt more comfortable in interviews and was able to confidently network with professionals. The Office of Career and Professional Development helped me narrow my career path and was extremely useful during my job search.”

“Dr. Mark Setzler, professor of political sciences and director of the international relations program, made a profound impact on me and continues to be a source of inspiration for me. He consistently challenged me in class and encouraged me to be a better student. In his classes, I learned how to strengthen my arguments and communication skills. Dr. Setzler helped me get to where I am now.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?
“HPU’s environment helped me develop gratitude and an appreciation for life. I was motivated to enjoy my work and my time in college by creating meaningful memories. Everyone on campus is so incredibly welcoming and helpful. HPU’s staff and beautiful facilities had a positive impact on me and my experience as a student.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?
“HPU helped reinforce the importance of building a valuable network with students, professors and professionals in my desired field. These connections helped me discover my interest in politics and led me to my current position.”
Advice for underclassmen:
“Chase your dreams! Use your network and the resources around you, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Always be willing to take risks. We learn from failure, and without failure, there is no growth.”
