HPU Welcomes Thousands for Christmas Drive

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 28, 2023 – Nearly 30,000 community members enjoyed the sights and sounds of the holiday season while driving through campus during HPU’s annual Christmas Drive celebration. The free event was held for 10 consecutive nights, from Dec. 18 to Dec. 27.

Guests were welcomed with many Christmas displays on campus and tuned into to a special radio station to listen Christmas carols performed by the talented students and faculty from HPU’s Department of Music.

“Every year, we look forward to welcoming thousands of families and friends to our campus for the Christmas Drive,” HPU President Nido Qubein said. “This is one of many ways we celebrate the Christmas season and bring people together for joy and fellowship.”

This is the 12th year that HPU has held a free Christmas event for the community.

The Christmas Drive was expanded this year to include more than 100,000 Christmas lights, 235 large nutcrackers, a life-size Nativity scene and the state’s tallest Christmas tree at 70 feet. Guests also saw a 58-foot Christmas tree on the lawn outside the Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center at the end of the route. As they left campus, community members received a special gift that included a Christmas card and information about HPU basketball games that fans can attend for free.
