Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak regularly comes to HPU’s campus and mentors students in a wide variety of majors, including engineering, education and computer science.

Wozniak and fellow Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs were in their early 20s and had no business experience or money when they started Apple in 1976. That same year, they built their first Apple computer, which helped popularize the personal computer and turned Apple into one of the world’s largest and most influential companies.

Wozniak gave HPU’s Commencement address in 2013, and he has served as the university’s Innovator in Residence since 2016. In this role, he has mentored HPU students in a wide variety of majors, including engineering, education and computer science.

In 2016, Wozniak began working with a group of HPU students on a project to build a self-driving vehicle. More recently, he also worked with students to build and test a device that reads brainwaves. Among many other things, he has advised pharmacy and exercise science students on how to take an innovative idea that they have and implement it.
