She will also help maintain a consistent corporate image throughout marketing materials.
How HPU helped you get there:
“HPU pushed me to break out of my shell and taught me skills that helped me grow into the young professional that I am today. Everything from my classes I took to the clubs I joined taught me something new and allowed me to meet other students who are passionate and motivated. HPU also offered resources that prepared me for my future, such as the Office of Career and Professional Development, who helped me refine my resume and provided me with interview tips.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU:
“My most impactful mentor at HPU is Dr. Matthew Carlson, associate professor of English. Dr. Carlson was the first HPU professor I met, and since that day he has been a constant source of support. As my professor and advisor, he was always there to help me both inside and outside of the classroom. He encouraged me to pursue my passion and add an English major. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him, and it’s comforting to know that he will always be there for me, even after I graduate.”
Most impactful moment at HPU:
“My most impactful moment at HPU was when my first writing piece was published in the university newspaper during the first month of my freshman year. This was the beginning of four years of writing, editing and publishing on HPU’s campus. Since then, I have had numerous writing pieces featured in student-run publications as well as on the HPU website and in print magazines. Seeing my first article in the newspaper provided me with a sense of accomplishment and proved to me that hard work pays off.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?
“I feel inspired every day on HPU’s campus. From the flowing fountains and beautiful scenery to the classical music and motivational quotes on the International Promenade, HPU’s environment has helped me maintain a positive mindset. My fellow students pushed me to strive to be my best self. I was always surrounded by greatness, and that inspired me to achieve my goals.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?
“I have learned so many life skills during my time at HPU, but most importantly, HPU helped me develop confidence, both in myself and in my work. I learned how to believe in myself and not doubt my decisions. I also learned how to network and create connections with my peers, professors and professionals in my field. I know how to present myself as a well-rounded individual who is ready for my next opportunity.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?
“HPU taught me to give back to others and be thankful for those who helped you get to where you are now. I admire HPU’s God, family and country values, and I will carry these with me for the rest of my life.”
Advice for underclassmen:
“Don’t be afraid to take risks. Try to take advantage of every opportunity you get because you never know what will come from it. Saying ‘yes’ can change your life!”
