How HPU helped you get there:

“There are many classes at HPU that give you the foundation for business so that when you go into the workforce, you can apply it to the projects you’re working on. There are also many learning labs that can be used to prepare you for etiquette in a social setting with managers. I used the etiquette I learned at HPU to stand out amongst my peers at the lunch or dinner table. There were many professors who mentored me in my classes and gave me advice on the academic work I was doing, but also how to apply it in the workforce. And I used the Office of Career and Professional Development to help me with my resume and Handshake and LinkedIn profiles. Overall, HPU gives you the tools in order to be successful. You just have to use them.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU:

“Scott Davis, associate professor of accounting, is my most impactful mentor at HPU. I asked him questions about his experience in the accounting field as well as for advice during my interview process. He gave me thoughtful and direct answers so that I was able to use this important feedback to make any adjustments necessary to succeed.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“My most impactful moments consist of being involved in many different organizations on campus. I have been a Division 1 Student Athlete, a University Ambassador on campus, the Fundraising Chairman for my business fraternity: Alpha Kappa Psi, the Philanthropy Chairman of my social fraternity: Pi Kappa Phi, and lastly serving as the SGA Representative for the Inter fraternity Council on campus.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?

“HPU provides each student with all the necessary tools needed to make impactful decisions in the workforce. One must simply take advantage of those tools. I have been able to use these tools to my advantage to help me achieve my goals.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?

“Some life skills that HPU helped me develop are public speaking skills, advanced writing skills, how to dine properly in front of co-workers and potential employers and how to effectively achieve your goals. I will take the life and academic lessons I have learned on campus and make sure to apply them to my future endeavors.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“Always be curious and ask a lot of questions. Relate the work you are doing to something that you enjoy, and remember to put all those skills you learned throughout your college experience into practice when you begin your career.”
