Name:  Maddie Molis, Class of 2027

Hometown:  Clarendon Hills, Illinois

Major: English with a double minor in legal studies and public and professional writing

Internship plans:  Maddie is a legal intern for Align Technology this summer in Tempe, Arizona, where she will be working as their youngest intern. In addition to that, she will be working directly under the EVP and Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer. By the end of her internship, Maddie will have two major projects completed. Her first project is for Align Technology’s 2025 Month of Wellness, which will focus on oral health. This will include an overview of dental benefits for employees in their respective regions, a press release, as well as a website containing educational infographics, activities and information. For her second project, she will be researching and writing an article, which will be published on the topic of AI governance for public medical device companies.

How HPU helped you get there: “Although I am just finishing my second semester at HPU right now, I have already grown so much, both academically and personally. I have learned so many important skills and have made so many valuable connections from each of the classes that I have taken so far.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU:  “Dr. Matthew Carlson, associate professor of English, has been my most impactful mentor at HPU so far. I had him as a professor for an honors class during my first semester, as well as an English class during my second semester. I’ve learned so much from Dr. Carlson regarding things inside and outside of the classroom. He has been so influential and so encouraging.”

What has your internship experience been like and how is it preparing you for your future? “My internship begins this summer, and it is two months long. I have never been to Arizona before, so I will be living and working there by myself. I am very excited about the personal and educational growth that I will gain from this experience!”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?  “Two of the most valuable life skills that HPU has helped me develop so far are how to write in both public and professional environments, and how to successfully network and market yourself in a professional setting.”
