Princeton Review Names HPU #1 Best-Run College in the Nation

Once again, HPU also earned top rankings for Best Career Services, Most Beautiful Campus and more.

HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 27, 2024 – High Point University has been named the #1 Best-Run College in the nation by The Princeton Review in “The Best 390 Colleges: 2025 Edition.” The ranking comes during a banner year when HPU is celebrating its centennial anniversary, beginning the fall semester with the largest group of new students and the largest total enrollment in history, and opening new dental and law schools.

HPU also maintained several other Top 20 national rankings the university has consistently received in the past, including:

  • #1 Best-Run College(up from #11 in 2024 and #16 in 2023)
  • #6 Best College Dorms
  • #9 Best Career Services(up from #13 in 2024 and #20 in 2023)
  • #9 Most Active Student Government
  • #18 Best Campus Food
  • #18 Most Beautiful Campus(up from #19 in 2024 and 2023)
  • #24 Best Student Support and Counseling Services

The Princeton Review’s methodology is, in part, based on responses from students.

“We appreciate this recognition and the fact that families across the nation consistently say that High Point University is one of the best academic institutions in America,” said HPU President Nido Qubein. “We are grateful for the high marks given to us by our students, and we celebrate the dedicated team it takes to operate this thriving institution. Our future is bright, and we remain committed to supporting our students and preparing them for the world as it is going to be.”

HPU is ranked #18 nationally for Most Beautiful Campus, moving up one spot from last year’s ranking.

This is the eighth consecutive year HPU has been named one of the top schools in the nation by The Princeton Review. The university has climbed several categories over the past few years. For example, HPU jumped from #20 in 2023 to #9 this year for Best Career Services, which rates an academic institution’s career and job placement services.

Data collected by HPU shows 99% of graduates begin their careers or continue their education within 180 days of graduation, which is 14 points higher than the national average reported by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

In addition, The Princeton Review has named HPU among the nation’s great schools for communications majors and business and finance majors.

A Banner Year for HPU

When the fall semester began on Aug. 19, HPU welcomed the largest total enrollment in school history (6,335), including a record number of new students (1,650). In addition, the Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law and the Workman School of Dental Medicine each welcomed their inaugural classes earlier this month.

HPU has continued to earn national accolades as it prepares to celebrate its centennial anniversary on Sept. 14. In July, HPU was recognized as a College of Distinction for the 2024-25 academic year. It marked the 14th consecutive year that HPU has received the prestigious honor that highlights the best places of learning across the nation for prospective students, parents and guidance counselors.

Since HPU’s transformation began in 2005, the university has been honored with countless recognitions. HPU has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 “Best Colleges” edition as #1 Best Regional College in the South for 12 consecutive years, #1 Most Innovation for Regional College in the South for nine consecutive years, #1 for Best Undergraduate Teaching, and among National Top 30 First-Year Experiences and Best Value Schools in Regional Colleges South.
