Here’s a quick glimpse at one of many impressive outcomes HPU graduates achieve.
Name: Daniel Gaston, Class of 2026
Hometown: Washington, D.C.
Major: Sport Management, minoring in marketing
Internship plans: Daniel interned at AvalonBay Communities this summer as their Leading Consultant and Property Operations Intern in Arlington, Virginia. He worked in the leasing office at Avalon’s largest community in their Mid-Atlantic region. During his time there, his main job was to tour prospective residents and secure leases. Additionally, Daniel also facilitated move-in and move-out processes and communicated with residents.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU’s commitment to bringing the best out of their students helped me to attain this internship. The Office of Career and Professional Development also did a great deal in helping me in my internship process.”
How you used Career & Professional Development?: “I visited the Office of Career and Professional Development quite a bit last year, and it was extremely helpful. My Career and Professional Development advisor helped me to refine my resume, cover letters and LinkedIn profile. He also helped me to refine my internship search and served as a helpful reference for some of my applications.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “HPU definitely has helped me with my communication and networking skills, so that I was able to be confident speaking to prospects this past summer.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Don’t simply chase money, but chase something bigger that you can only attain by making money. Have a passion that you are dedicated to and will stop at nothing to achieve, and the income will follow.”
