Name: Maxwell Rattet, Class of 2025
Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland
Major: Sport management, minor in sales
Post-graduation plans: Maxwell interned as a Product Field Testing Intern at Under Armour this summer in Baltimore, Maryland. He oversaw the entire testing process for core run footwear, working closely with the development team to ensure all pre-production and production models met Under Armour’s standards for fit, performance, functionality and durability. In addition, Maxwell was also responsible for ensuring compliance with design and construction requirements, developing best practices for the testing process, providing detailed feedback to the development and other internal teams and ensuring the zero failure policy was upheld.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU has provided me with an incredible support system. My professors are always willing to take the time to talk to me and help me find the appropriate resources to best fit my goals.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Dr. Jennifer Lukow, department chair and associate professor of sport management, has always pushed me to be my best and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. During my sophomore year, she helped me get an internship with HPU’s Athletic Marketing team. She is my favorite professor and always knows how to keep me engaged.”
How you used Career & Professional Development: “I used the the Peer Career Advisors and the full-time staff in the Office of Career and Professional Development to help me create a resume and cover letter.”
What has your internship experience been like and how is it preparing you for your future success? “My internship experience has taught me to work on a team and rely on others for help and resources when necessary. It has prepared me to re-enter the workforce upon graduation. Additionally, I learned how amazing it is to work in sports apparel and how I can make a career out of it.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Underclassmen should take advantage of every opportunity they have. Find your niche and get involved. If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
