HIGH POINT, N.C., April 18, 2016 – High Point University’s Impact Club brought 3,000 meals to 1,500 children in the Triad this past weekend. After partnering with the United Way, the Christian service fraternity filled 1,500 backpacks with two meals for each child.
“Impact Club’s meal packing event was extremely successful,” said Christen Cothran, president of Impact Club. “It is great to see everyone work together and have such a positive impact on our community. I am so thankful that God has used Impact to spread love, joy and hope throughout the community.”
The 3,000 meals that the students packed will be distributed to local elementary schools in the city of High Point through the United Way.
“Impact Club works hard every year to have service projects that make a real difference in the lives of those involved,” said Kathleen Kitts, vice president of Impact Club. “I am very lucky to be a part of such an inspiring organization and give back to the community in such a big way.”
HPU’s Impact Club gives back to the community in various ways throughout the year including the Impact Christmas event for members of the community at the Carl Chavis YMCA. At last year’s event, the HPU students sold Christmas gifts to more than 60 members of the community at a discounted price so parents had the opportunity to pick out gifts for their children.
“I am very grateful to have the opportunity to assist in planning and executing events that benefit the local High Point community,” said Alex Hostetler, incoming Impact Club president. “I am looking forward to our upcoming events and watching how the Lord uses this phenomenal organization to help individuals in need.”
