How to Apply

Step-by-Step Guide to Simplify Your Application Process:

1. Explore Programs:

• Visit our website to browse through our diverse range of graduate and professional programs.
• Choose the program that aligns with your career goals and interests.
• Check the program’s requirements and pre-requisite classes.
• Connect with our Graduate Admissions team who can discuss your options, assist you with the process and schedule an online or campus visit.

2. Application Portal Access:

• Access our user-friendly online application portal or, for some professional programs, apply through a common application.  Check our Apply page for links to each of our applications.

3. Personal Information:

• Fill in your basic personal details accurately.
• If your personal or contact information changes during the application cycle, please let us know at GradAdmit@highpoint.edu.

4. Recommendations:

• Select recommenders who know you well and can provide a perspective on your academic and professional preparation for graduate school.  Avoid using family members and friends.
• Discuss your academic and career plans with your recommenders in advance so that they are prepared to respond promptly when they receive the request to fill out the recommendation form.
• Carefully provide the name and contact information in your application so that the recommendation request gets to the right person.

5. Academic History:

• Provide details of your academic background in your application.  List all of the colleges and universities that you have attended, including dual enrollment and summer coursework.
• Request official transcripts from the Registrar’s Office of all colleges and universities that you have attended.  If you have earned a degree outside of the United States, a course by course transcript evaluation is required (WES.org is the most commonly provided.)

6. Standardized Test Scores – If Required:

• Most of our graduate programs do not require standardized test scores.  If a test is required for your program, request official standardized test scores from the appropriate vendor.

7. Review and Submit:

• Receive a confirmation email acknowledging your submission.

8. Application Status:

• Review your application for accuracy and completeness.
• Submit your application securely through the portal or via the appropriate common application for your program.

9. Interviews – If Required:

• Some of our graduate programs require an interview as part of the admission process.  If you are selected, you will be contacted by someone from the High Point University Graduate Admissions Office.
• An interview is your opportunity to learn more about High Point University, your program as well as to show the Admissions Committee who you are and the perspective that you will add to the community.  Come prepared with questions and an openness to share your personality, passion and character.

10. Admissions Decision:

• After your submitted, complete application including supporting documents, recommendations and supplemental materials has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee, you will receive an admission decision.
• If admitted, you will be asked to confirm your enrollment plans.  We hope that you will choose to accept our offer and join the High Point University community!
